The Essential Packing Guide for your Studio Maternity Photo Session

The journey of pregnancy is a monumental period in one's life, filled with growth, beauty, and anticipation. Capturing this special time through a maternity photoshoot is a wonderful way to commemorate your experience. Preparing for your studio session is key to ensuring a smooth, stress-free, and enjoyable photoshoot. Here's a practical guide on what to pack for your studio maternity photoshoot.

1. Comfortable Clothing:

  • Outfits: While your photographer will likely have some outfits to select from at their studio, it's a good idea to bring along 2 - 3 outfits to provide a variety of looks. Some great choices are flowing dresses, form-fitting bodysuits, or classic solid-coloured tops and jeans. Undergarments: Neutral or skin-toned undergarments are essential, especially for dresses or sheer fabrics. A nude coloured strapless bra is ideal but if you don't have one, your photographer can tuck in the straps.

  • Comfortable Shoes: Most photographs will be taken barefoot, but it's a good idea to bring comfortable footwear for walking around the studio or standing during certain poses.

  • Coordinated Clothing: Ensure that your partner's and any other children's outfits coordinate with what you'll be wearing. If you're unsure, always check with suggestions from your photographer or opt for classic jeans and a white or black t-shirt.

2. Personal Touches:

  • Ultrasound Image: An ultrasound photo can add a sweet, personal touch to your pictures.

  • Baby Accessories: Little shoes, knitted blankets, or a special book for your future baby can add sentimental value.

  • Jewellery: A meaningful piece of jewelry can be a subtle yet beautiful addition.

3. Hair and Makeup Essentials:

  • Makeup Kit: Even if you've had your makeup done professionally, bring powder for touch-ups to counter any shine and lipstick to refresh your look.

  • Hair Accessories: Pins, clips, a brush, and a travel-sized hairspray can help tame any flyaways or loose strands.

4. Hydration and Snacks:

  • Water: Staying hydrated is essential, especially for pregnant mums. Bring a reusable water bottle and always communicate with your photographer if you're feeling at all dizzy or unwell.

  • Snacks: Have a few easy, healthy snacks on hand to maintain your energy levels during the shoot.

Packing for your maternity photoshoot doesn't have to be a daunting task. With these essentials, you'll be well-prepared for a successful, enjoyable session. Remember, this photoshoot is all about celebrating you and your future bundle of joy. Comfort and personalization are the keys to capturing this beautiful journey.
