I had a wonderful night last week catching up with some of Sydney’s best baby photographers. Being a baby photographer is usually a pretty lonely job – for most of us we work alone and are busy juggling motherhood and running a business.
Over the past 6 years I’ve had the opportunity to meet lots of other photographers specialising in baby photography and am happy to call many of them close friends. We regularly ask each other for advice and support, as well as referring clients to each other if we’re not able to do a session. Rarely though do we get to have a night out to relax and chat!
Earlier this year, one of those wonderful colleagues took it upon herself to organise a social catch up in Sydney. It was a wonderful night and a great opportunity to catch up with old friends as well as meet new ones (and meet people I feel like I’ve known for years but we’ve never actually met in person!).
I think in some businesses, people purposely avoid getting to know their “competitors”. Personally, I think this is a real shame. Baby photography is such a specialised genre of photography and one that only another baby photographer can truly understand! I believe that there is strength in numbers. By getting to know others in our industry we can help each other to be the best we can be.
Here are a few shots from the night:
A huge thank you to Samantha Bryce for arranging the wonderful night. As well as to all the sponsors and Kayell for hosting!
